The Rains Have Returned...

Around here, the first rain of the season is much like the first snow elsewhere across the country.  Dreaded by some, but to many others, anticipated and welcomed as the return of winter and the approaching holidays.

To John and myself, as gardeners, it represents the chance to turn off the irrigation for a spell and let nature take care of the watering...   And here at Creekside, it means that the creek will soon be flowing and gurgling softly yet again.  But now that we've begun canoeing, it also may mean less chances to get out upon the River.  And this past weekend, it meant chores.

Cushions to bring inside.  Gutters to check and clear.  Firewood delivery to stack and tarp.  But we got it all done, and still managed two beautiful, glorious outings on the River.

( ... And are we ever glad we did ..! )

An Intoduction from Johnny

Hi, I am John the idea guy that wanted a place to learn and share both my love of, and interest in, canoeing. I purchased my first canoe three months ago in mid-summer and discovered a new world for myself.

It usually takes two to canoe and I am so fortunate to have Chris on board in this fantastic adventure. Chris and I have shared hours now discovering the beautiful Russian River's many beaches, alcoves, wide open windy stretches, and mirror-like magic.

We are both avid landscape painters and wildlife lovers. The river offers an abundance of beautiful scenery and rich wildlife opportunities.

My hope is that we can work together to share our knowledge and experience while learning from you. Let's all share our best thoughts and create adventures and love as we canoe the many waters of our free flowing waterways.

Some Recent Photos from Chris

on a perfectly warm, crisply lit day in October.
The river had risen a solid foot or more,
and was perfectly glassy and clear.

Welcome To Our Blog ...

We're John & Chris, and we've just recently come to discover the grandeur of canoeing the Russian River.
A few weeks back we decided to begin a blog ...

... and here it is ..!  We're glad you found us and dropped by.

Come back and visit again, soon ...    : )
